: e- K. D1 l! Y6 n" D# b3 ZAlkylphenols (APs) and alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEOs) are auxiliary chemicals used in different industries. They
' ^4 t- f9 p8 L2 ~, X8 tare good emulsifiers and wetting agents and thus have been used widely in different industrial cleaning systems
such as textile and leather processing, pulp and paper manufacturing, metal working, and agriculture. They are
also used as domestic cleaning agents and co-formulants in pesticides and biocides.
In particular, NP and NPEO (under the family of APs and APEOs respectively) are extensively used as detergent
auxiliaries in scouring and bleaching process of fibres for removing the fibres impurities such as wax, seed, etc in

! A2 C# `, ]! g6 ~6 {. Dto the environment as discharges or emissions. They are potent endocrine disrupters to the aquatic environment
5 m( \+ T* v, p: p4 _# zand can cause feminisation in male fish. As a result, the fertility or reproductive capability of the fish is reduced

5 [$ m& V- g2 ]0 Y) _0 B$ ^restrictions on the marketing and use of the nonylphenol (NP) and nonylphenol ethoxylate (NPEOs) summarized as

6 |% _# ^: O" O3 P2 |: t8 PBy 17 January 2005, except for pesticides or biocides which have been granted by existing national
authorizations the use of NPEOs as a co-formulant, nonylphenol & nonylphenol ethoxylate may not be used in
* A* q0 Y, {0 I- ^concentrations equal or higher than 0.1% (equivalent to 1,000ppm) by mass for the following purposes:
• industrial and institutional cleaning except those systems where the washing liquid is recycled or incinerated;
5 L5 M3 V7 f9 R( k; x• domestic cleaning;
• textiles and leather processing except those without release into waste water or those with special treatments
( p! k: J: k0 i% L1 |6 S$ Wto remove the organic fraction completely prior to the release;
" Z/ v! m% j# O# b) z• emulsifier in agricultural teat dips;
• metal working except those systems where the washing liquid isrecycled or incinerated;
( ?! @' [9 }# X! Q+ Q• manufacturing of pulp and paper;
/ W0 h$ q7 P# F7 o$ j• cosmetic products;
• other personal care products except spermicides;
• co-formulants in pesticides and biocides.

• 工業和公共清潔，備有洗滌液再循環或焚化的系統除外；
